Thomas Gainsborough
Thomas Gainsborough is regarded as one of the great English masters of landscape and portraiture of all time. Gainsborough combined influences from Watteau and Flemish painter Sir Anthony van Dyck applying and adapting them into his own unique style. He made his first masterpiece “Mr. and Mrs. Robert Andrews” in his hometown patterned after the style of one of his teachers in London, Francis Hayman.
