After which he began work on altarpieces and panels such as the “Madonna of the Star” in San Marco, Florence. He also painted the “Christ in Glory” which he surrounded with saints and angels that can now be found at the National Gallery of London that contains almost 250 distinct figures. At the same period he also painted two of the Coronation of the Virgin (San Marco and the Louvre, Paris), The Deposition and The Last Judgment (San Marco). His style was first seen in the painting Madonna of the Linen Weavers which has its boarders graced by a dozen musical angels.

The Dominicans of Fiesole, moved to a convent in San Marco in Florence at around 1436 that has been recently redesigned by Michelozzo. He was aided by assistance when he worked on the many frescoes that adorned the cloister, chapter house and most of the entrance to the 20 cells on the upper floors. One of his most notable works in The Crucifixion, Christ as a Pilgrim and the Transfiguration. The altarpiece of San Marco is considered to be representations of what are now known as a Sacred Conversation which is the Madonna flanked by several angels and saints that seemingly share a common space. The destroyed Chapel of the Sacrament in the Vatican was worked on by Angelico, which had him summoned to Rome by Pope Eugenius IV where he was to paint frescoes. In Orvieto, he and his pupil Benozzo Gozzoli painted frescoes in 1447. One of his most recognized works of art is the fresco he did for the chapel of Pope Nicholas in the Vatican, where his assistants based their paintings from designs and drawings he made. He died in a Dominican convent in Rome on the 18th of March 1455.

Another exquisite painter of the time was his student Benozzo Gozzoli, who followed in his footsteps that used the bible as source of his works. He studied and often accompanied Fra Angelico on his travels to and from his home convent where he spent most of his time. His style was heavily influenced by the style Fra Angelico used which is very evident in the works he has produced.
