Fra Angelico's
true name was Guido di Pietro and he was born in Vicchio, Tuscany. He entered the Dominican convent located in Fiesole in 1418 and at about 1425 he completed studies and took his vows as a friar using the name Giovanni de Fiesole. The origin of his artistic nature and the development through a mentor was not known but he began interest in art when he acted as an illuminator of missals and other religious books.
