Canaletto

Canaletto is another of the best Venetian artists who is better known for his detailed landscapes of Venice and many other European cities of the time. He was born Giovanni Antonio Canal, on October 28, 1697, to a painter father Bernardo Canal hence his name Canaletto and mother Artemisia Barbeiri. He began his painting career as a theatrical scenery painter as he drew inspiration from the work of the Roman vedutista Giovanni Paolo Panini that depicted the daily life of cities and its people. He is particularly known for his attention to detail with the subjects in the front paying much attention to detail and then using a style that can be likened to the way a camera records images, reduces the farthest items as blobs of color blending seemingly into the landscape.
